
Mary Madigan, a leader for artists & organizations
Mary Madigan became Executive Director of Santa Fe Pro Musica (Santa Fe, NM) in February 2020. (Click here to view the press release.) The activity of Madigan Arts will wind down with the exception of a curatorial partnership with The Ethics Institute at Kent Place School (Summit, NJ) and ongoing work with composer Craig Shepard for the "Broken Silence" project.

Mary Madigan has led the advancement of classical and post-classical music performance, artists, and repertoire from positions at Boosey & Hawkes, Meet The Composer, Composers Now, Concert Artists Guild, The New School, the (original) Vermont Mozart Festival, and her own business Madigan Arts.
Starting in
Mary has championed artists and projects, making matches artist-to-artist, artist-to-organization, and artist-to-funder. Some of those successes have been the American premiere of Pascal Dusapin's opera Faustus, the Last Night at Spoleto Festival USA, the commissioning of John Luther Adams by Washington Performing Arts and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts; the commissioning of David Fulmer by Carnegie Hall; grant awards for multiple New York City ensembles; raising full financing to acquire of a new set of instruments from Indonesia for Gamelan Dharma Swara; and performances at The Met Museum, Austrian Cultural Forum, Stanford Lively Arts, Winnipeg New Music Festival, and others.
Mary is conversant in current presenting and curatorial practices. She started her career as General Manager of the Vermont Mozart Festival running the organization for legendary artistic director Mel Kaplan. Seven years of traveling internationally for music publisher Boosey & Hawkes brought Mary to myriad performances and into programming discussions with international artistic decision-makers. She holds a graduate certificate in performing arts curation from Wesleyan University and just completed a 20-month “think tank” fellowship program as one of 25 arts leaders selected by the Association of Performing Arts Professionals and University of Southern California. Mary has also studied nonprofit leadership at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and in a joint program of the University of Pennsylvania and National Arts Strategies.
